Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Die Gemälde-Serie „FACADE“ befasst sich – wie der Name schon sagt – mit der Fassade, dem Schein, der in unserer Zeit immer öfter die Realität überdeckt und anderen etwas vorspiegelt. Ich hatte spontan das Bedürfnis, mich einmal künstlerisch mit diesem Thema auseinander zu setzen.
Bewusst habe ich die Menschen nicht wie sonst realistisch dargestellt, sondern passend zum Thema und dem Konzept des ganzen Werkes, einen schnellen, abstrakten Strich gewählt. Geprägt von harten Kontrasten – schwarz weiß trifft auf pastellige Töne. Über Augen und Münder der sonst eher zart anmutenden Frauen ein schwarzer dominanter Balken mit weißer Typografie. Wörter wie „Artist, Lover, Faith und Hope“ zügig in Großbuchstaben gepinselt. Anlehnend an die Impression der Street Art erinnernd – laut und unübersehbar. Die übliche sorgfältige Ausarbeitung, die typisch für frühere Werke von mir sind, fehlt hier gänzlich. Quasi ein malerischer Ausbruch in der sonst so geo...
Shirin Donia is a young, German-Persian artist. She was born in 1980 in Germany. At the age of 2 she already started painting, lying on the carpet, many hours a day. An inspiring environment assisted her creativity, as she got introduced to many foreign countries and mentalities in early days. Residences in Florida, the Caribbean, India, Middle East and London � to only name a few stations � formed her cosmopolitanism and her artistic esprit! Shirin Donia visited academies in England and the USA. Through an additional apprenticeship in digital-art in a gallery in Palma de Mallorca, she can now confidently handle �paint-brush and pc�.
